CONCEPTS TO ENGAGE ON
Sometimes after the show has ended, the guest and I will have an expended conversation about some of the nuggets they shared. Or sometimes we only touch on a subject I wished we would have discussed just a little bit more. Or the topics we talked about inspired other thoughts I want you to know more about. Either way, below you’ll find some gems I would like you to to chew on.
What is a wedding planner contract?
A wedding planner contract is a legally binding agreement between a wedding planner and their client. The contract outlines the duties of the wedding planner, as well as the expectations of the client. The contract should also include a payment schedule and cancellation policy. A wedding planner contract can help to protect both the wedding planner and the client by clearly defining the terms of the relationship.
What is a typical wedding cancellation policy?
A wedding cancellation policy is a set of guidelines that dictates what will happen if a client decides to cancel their contract. The policy will typically specify how far in advance the cancellation must be made in order to receive a refund, as well as any other conditions that must be met in order for the refund to be given. While wedding cancellation policies can vary significantly from one vendor to another, they are generally designed to protect both the wedding planner and the couple from losses that may occur as a result of a cancellation.
Is a wedding deposit refundable?
When it comes to contracting a wedding with a client, one of the first things they will need to do is put down a deposit. In the industry though we call this a “retainer” and this the language you should be using in your contracts. A retainer is nonrefundable where as deposit is. This retainer (with a signed contract) secures your services and ensures that they’ll be available on your wedding day. But what happens if a couple needs to cancel their contract with you? Is your deposit refundable? The answer to this question depends on your wedding contract. Generally speaking though, wedding deposits are non-refundable with vendors. However, some contracts may allow for a partial refund if your client cancels within a certain time period.
