In just a few short weeks, engagement season will be here! Hooray!! If you’re new to the wedding industry and wondering what in the world I’m talking about, here it is. Engagement season is the time from Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day. Statistically, this is when most wedding proposals happen. The reason behind it? I believe it has to do with all the family activities that happen during this time, i.e., Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and Valentine’s Day.
Prepare for Engagement Season
These holidays make it convenient for couples to share the news to those near and dear to them. And because couples are getting engaged this time of year, your inbox will see a spike in leads. Like I said, hooray! To capitalize on this opportunity, make sure you’re prepared by making these super simple updates to your wedding planner business.
1. Update Your Client Avatar
I’ll say it again, know who you’re marketing to. The very best way to figure this out is with a client avatar. Download our client avatar sheet if you haven’t done so yet. The more experience you gain, the more your client avatar will change. Be sure to update this before you do anything else. I’m sure you learned tons of stuff from last wedding season; now is the time to reflect on those things and narrow down your niche.
2. Update Your Website
After you have updated your client avatar, one of the very next things you should do to get ready for engagement season is update your website. This means adding new photos of your very best weddings from the previous season. Remember to add only the weddings you think will attract your ideal client. Don’t add a billion photos with a billion galleries; only add 10–30 pictures in each gallery and remember, only include the highlights. This is also the best time to update your website copy. Take a look at your about page and see if it needs to be updated. Also, go ahead and write some new blogs! Get some of that SEO magic working for you and really keyword those articles for your local area.
3. Update Your Google Biz Page
Next, go ahead and update your Google Biz page. Ask past clients to write a review. Be sure to add new copy and new pictures. 4. Update Any Advertising Listings
Whether you have a free or paid listing on WeddingWire or The Knot, you will want to update it with new copy and new pictures. Take a moment to look at your competition while you’re there. Do you see any ways you can improve your listing? Are you forgetting to add any vital information? Remember to also ask your past clients to review you on these sites as well.
