I’m not going to lie to you, December is a bittersweet month for me personally. It carries a lot of personal trauma and sadness; it’s hard for me to just let go and enjoy the merriment of the holidays. In a season made of hope and joy, I find myself angry for all the lost moments I’m without this time of year.

December 2021 Community Calendar

I’ve been going back and forth on whether to even mention my tragedy. It’s a little unprofessional to tell strangers about my darkest day. But I’m more than just a wedding planner educator, I’m a real-life person who has experienced earth-shattering pain few have felt

On December 14, 2016, I gave birth to a baby girl named Adaline. She died 8 hours later. It wasn’t until many months later we figured out the “why,” but knowing why gave us very little comfort. It was a perfectly normal pregnancy with no indications that something was wrong. She would have been 5 this year.

I’m telling you this because this experience has forever changed me. I’m also telling you this because this is the time of year where I slow down and get quiet. I refocus on what’s important to me and I try to be in the moment. I have to be extremely mindful to express delight so my other children will enjoy this season. But to be honest, it wears me out a little.

Just because I’m taking a mental holiday doesn’t mean you guys still can’t get great content that propels your business forward. For the most part, many of my emails this month will be batched, but that doesn’t mean great things aren’t still happening.

Engagement Season Download

December is a slower time for wedding planners, so it’s a great time to clean up your website. Every month my email list gets access to a free download. This month they will be able to download my Engagement Season Website Clean Up Audit to make the most of this time. Remember, it all comes down to knowing your ideal client for all this stuff to work. If you don’t know who that is just yet, go here if you need help with that.

The best time for new wedding planners to learn is now. Check out this list of December 2020 Calendar training dates.
