I accept what is out of my control.
As wedding planners, we plan. We have contingency plans for contingency plans. But there are wedding days where no matter how perfectly we plan, life happens.
❌ Car accidents
❌ Flight delays
❌ Super bad weather
❌ Covid
When this happens, it’s important we don’t dwell on the should haves, could haves. There’s no point. Try to focus on the things you can change. The things you do have control over.
March 2022 Classes for Wedding Planners
Being inexperienced, you don’t know what’s going to pop up. And so sometimes it might feel like everything is out of your control the day of a wedding. When this happens, it’s important that you ask yourself if it could have been prevented in some way, shape, or form. If it was truly out of control, move on. If it was on you, learn from it, but don’t beat yourself up. We all have these stories. If you want to take control of your wedding day, get my Directing the Wedding Day Planner Kit. It’s a great tool that walks you step by step through how to direct the day of a wedding for beginning wedding planners.
If you are ever in doubt this month, think about the mantra above. Repeat it. Repeat it often if needed. Write it down until you start to believe it.

Wedding Planner Education
Speaking of control, this month we’re going to be discussing how to handle situations when things don’t go as planned. For example, what do you do if the rental company forgets the napkins? Or what if your officiant doesn’t show up to the wedding? Do you have the answers? Be on the lookout for these group discussions and blog posts. The more you participate, the better the discussions will be.
Wedding Planner Free Download
Every month my email list gets access to a free download. This month I’m giving my Plan B: Your Rain Plan Guide exclusively to those who are on my email list. (FYI- if you’re not currently on my list, I will not send it to you. Please don’t ask.) Rain may not be the ideal wedding situation for your clients, but it is a fact of life. Rain happens. In this guide, I’ll help you brainstorm your Plan B contingency for your next outdoor wedding.
